3 More Sleeps To Go #EmilysTakeover

“Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before! What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas…perhaps…means a little bit more!”
–Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

It’s the last week before Christmas and in the bump office we’re all starting to feel festive, we’ve kicked our week off with lovely George’s birthday which of course meant lots of cake! Followed by Christmas music and two Christmas bakes still to come, the countdown is well and truly on!

With just 5 days to go, we thought we’d share some of our favourite festive activities…

Christmas has to be my favourite time of year. Although shopping isn’t my favourite thing in the world, I do love choosing gifts for family and friends, Secret Santa and having a day to wrap all my pressies in front of the tree with Home Alone on the TV! It’s also the only time of year I can encourage my family to play board games along with a tin of Quality Street of course…!

Favourite Film: Christmas movies are another highlight for me, they are just so heart-warming and for me my absolute favourites have to be Home Alone and Home Alone 2! The only sequel which I think is a rival, if not better than the first.

I literally love everything about Christmas…. The excitement, the lights, wrapping presents, the songs, the food. Actual Christmas Day though, apart from the obvious delicious Christmas dinner and presents, I love in the evening we all sit next to the fire and play games such as Articulate and Who’s in the bag.

Favourite Film:  Probably ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ closely followed by Elf –  every year I attempt to watch them all before Christmas Day.

Obviously my favourite thing about Christmas is the presents, close second is stuffing (my favourite food) and Christmas morning muffins. This year I’m actually looking forward to being in the sun on holiday – however I’m sad I can’t have my normal Christmas!

Favourite Film: Either Elf or Home Alone I can’t decide

Hmm my favourite thing about Christmas is the Christmas dinner with homemade bread sauce as well as still putting my sack out for Santa the night before! This year I’m looking forward to having some relaxing time at home with my mum and family!

Favourite Film: Either The Holiday or Love Actually – I just can’t decide! I think Jude Law maybe wins it for me though.

The Food – Obviously! I love Christmas Lunch, especially the turkey, pigs in blankets and the sprouts… but a close second is Boxing Day, making an epic Turkey, Stuffing, roast parsnip, cranberry sauce, mustard and pepper sandwich – Ultra fresh bread is a must and gravy to add moisture!

I’m salivating just thinking about it!

Favourite Film: Miracle on 34th Street then The Polar Express

For me it is all new favourite things… filling Toby’s stocking has been a highlight, watching him loving the Christmas lights, reading festive books all of December and I cannot wait to sit with him and watch a children’s Christmas film!

I’m also still a fan of Buck’s Fizz breakfast on Christmas morning and of course opening a new box of roses while I sink into the best seat in the house by the fire!!!

Favourite Film: Home Alone or Miracle on 34th Street!

Every year our family (being half Italian) make homemade pasta called cappelletti – it is honestly the most delicious meal! Then of course on the British side – pigs in blankets, goose fat potatoes and not forgetting all the yummy chocolate puddings! I love the fact that Arthur now plays such an important role in Christmas, he is slightly obsessed with lights so this time of year is perfect for him. Next year, we are definitely doing Elf on the Shelf!

Favourite Film: Home Alone or Mrs Doubtfire
